treatments
Who can benefit from a Sports Therapy treatment?
You do not have to be an athlete or a sports person to benefit from a Sports Therapy treatment. I often see clients who have been injured in an accident, suffer from pain, post surgical rehab and postural issues.
Initial consultation and treatment
During the first treatment you will undergo a brief consultation detailing your relevant medical history and your current concerns. Your treatment will take into account your current state, your goals and the connections between your lifestyle, mind and body.
What to expect during treatment
During Manual Therapy treatments you will be asked to undress the area in need of treatment, therefore please bring along or wear clothing that will allow the therapist to commence with any treatment that you may require. It may be appropriate for you to bring shorts and for the ladies bring a vest top or back fastening bra. Towels are used to keep your modesty at all times.
Aftercare
It is important to continue to hydrate after a Sports Therapy treatment. Please drink plenty of water and remember to keep yourself hydrated to aid the healing process.

Prices include initial and ongoing assessments as well as follow ups.

Myofascial Release Treatments
Myofascial Release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Injury, surgery and inflammatory processes create myofascial adhesions in the body which inhibit the normal functioning of the connective tissue system and cause pain. Myofascial release removes the restrictions and restores balance to the fascial network.
Neuromuscular Therapy
NMT is a treatment modality that aims to treat the underlying causes of chronic pain, postural misalignment, and biomechanical dysfunction over a series of sessions. The focus of NMT is on the nervous and muscular systems and may involve trigger point therapy, optimizing postural and biomechanical function, and improving overall mobility.
Medical Acupuncture
Medical Acupuncture involves the strategic placement of sterile needles into various locations in the body to reduce pain and promote muscle relaxation. Medical acupuncture stimulates the body’s production of natural pain-relieving opioids such as endorphins that are important for pain control.
Electrotherapies
Our clinic has the latest therapeutic rehabilitation technology in the form of the Chatanooga Intelect Neo Therapy system, which is the new standard in physical medicine modalities. We offer the full range of electro-therapy modalities including: laser (LLLT), ultrasound, TENS and EMS and biofeedback. Electrotherapy modalities are used to treat a variety of conditions such as muscle, tendon and ligament damage across all stages of acute, sub-acute and chronic injury rehabilitation stages.
Postural Assessments
Postural Assessments are used to identify any imbalances that may cause muscular-skeletal problems. Postural dysfunction can be treated by using a variety of bodywork techniques combined with stretching and strengthening exercises. Improvements to postural dysfunction can help with sporting performance and general health and well-being.
Diagnostic Ultrasound
Our clinic has the Mindray Z6 diagnostic ultrasound system. Diagnostic medical sonography uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries.
Structural Integration
Structural Integration focuses on the connective tissue or fascia of the body. Our fascia is a complex continuous matrix of connective tissue that surrounds muscles, blood vessels, organs, and nerves, binding some structures together while at the same time allowing others to glide smoothly over each other.
Structural Integration seeks to align and balance the body by lengthening and re-positioning the fascia. As our fascia is lengthened it allows the muscles to move more efficiently. During structural integration therapy gentle pressure is applied to the body, working the entire fascial system is a systematic way. Sometimes during treatment, the client will be instructed to move gently and slowly in certain directions to achieve optimal results. When restricted fascia is released and lengthened the body can return to its structurally optimal position.
Kinesiology Taping
Therapeutic kinesiology taping can benefit musculoskeletal and sports injuries as well as inflammatory conditions. Kinesiology tape closely resembles human skin in both thickness and elasticity, which allows kinesiology tape to be worn without binding, constricting or restriction of your movement. This provides support and stability to joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for preventive maintenance, oedema, and to treat pain.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is used to help alleviate muscular problems, reduce pain, increase range of movement in joints, and breakdown scar tissue and adhesions. Remedial massage techniques may be used to treat whiplash, repetitive strain injury and other pain conditions.
